’ In 2001 this ‘Wise Man’ came to life on a piece of calico, it’s all i could get my hand on at the time. A year later I had it framed, it is in a private collection. Growing up in South Africa gave me access to the wild and to be fair was a huge part of my life in those days. I painted quite a few logos for safari’s on the doors of their trucks and the good old fashioned Army tents. They were a great sturdy surface to paint on, and oh the jackets and cushion covers, I painted.
Living in New Zealand I embraced the native wildlife, the kingfisher being a strong tie to the South African Kingfisher. I have always felt the draw to the wild of Africa and eventually gave in and continued my love for the African bush.’
