Contemplation Kotare
Contemplation is Claire's much loved work, inspired by being in the present moment after the difficulties the world is facing at the moment. The observer is a Sacred bird, said to be the first bird to fly from Noah's ark after the deluge, supposedly received the orange of the setting sun on its breast and the blue of the sky on its back. A symbol of peace, promising prosperity and love.
The Kotare, New Zealand's Sacred Kingfisher, is a treasured bird that can been seen from the window of Claire's studio. Working from her photographic observations the details and characters of these precious birds hold a lot of fascination for this artist. It is about the connectivity with each day that we hold with ourselves to be in the moment and happy for what each day brings. We used to look outside of ourselves for that which we needed and now we look inside for our own internal guidance, just like the Kotare. They are loyal and dedicated parents.
